_ Semantically speaking, ‘us’ is a bit of misnomer. 134marketing is actually just ‘me’, Louise Hitchen.

I have over ten years marketing experience, most of which has been spent specialising in the school sector. I have a unique blend of experience – having actually worked hands-on in numerous schools as well as having a great consultancy overview. For five years I managed all aspects of the marketing function at The Princess Helena College, successfully increasing the school roll and admissions interest. I have also been a temporary registrar in several schools, whilst recruiting new staff to fill the post.

I strongly believe that having an open and inquisitive mind & keeping my marketing skills up to scratch is crucial in offering good marketing consultancy. I have a CIM Advanced Certificate in Marketing and certificates from the Direct Institute of Marketing. In 2010, I was one of the first candidates to pass the CIM Digital Marketing Diploma (and was rather chuffed to get a distinction!).

Educated in both state and independent schools (at Uppingham), I have experience of both distinct types of service and of being a ‘first time buyer’ of private education.

• As a geography graduate (from The University of Leeds), I joined the National Farmers Union, working on the Countryside brand. Here I developed the membership package (magazine, affinity offers and member benefits), produced marketing materials and expanded their website.

• In 2001, I joined and subsequently became a director at RSAcademics Ltd, and enjoyed helping a variety of independent schools to thrive by providing strategic advice and bespoke research.
• 134marketing was established in 2004. And in case you were wondering, 134 are the equivalent scrabble word-scores for my initials LCH – Louise Claire Hitchen.
• As I strongly believe that consultants should remain open to new ideas and ways of thinking – I have also worked with businesses in other sectors including charitable organisations and the publishing industry.
